Moving To Substack

January marks the final The Authors’ Journey newsletter through my current provider, and a perfect time to finally make the switch.

I've been procrastinating starting Substack, while simultaneously neglecting my social media. Personally, I just find it difficult to navigate them all without losing a bit of my genuine self. Between seeing the country’s—let’s call a duck a duck—absolute shitstorm of existence play out in real time, and the constant internal deluge of social comparison to my author and writer friends, I can’t help but feel fatigued and doubting myself.

Hence, Substack. It’s a place to post thoughts, opinions, and anecdotes like Twitter or Bluesky, a channel to share videos and photography, and a thread of prose, journalism, and essays. I can be robust on Substack.

I’m not planning on deleting any accounts, or freezing all of my posts ad infinitum. However, will always be the first stop. Amalgamating everything in one place, rather than spreading myself thin until I burn out.

My favorite thing, there will be A LOT more prose. It’s going to be the place where I share all my short stories, flash fiction, and maybe even some informal essays…we’ll see.

Lastly, I’m announcing the publication of a serialized bit of storytelling that will see at least one new chapter/episode appearing each month.

Drawing of an abstract character with eyes that look like kumquats and a long millipede-like neck

Kumquat. He’s a demon. And he owns a teleporting bar.

Here’s a tiny taste of what’s coming . . .

Think: One Piece X Helluva Boss

This is Kumquat. He’s a demon. He runs a teleporting bar where he lures in unsuspecting people to curse other humans. And he just accidentally hired a mortal man to bartend for him. Turns out the pair might be able to make this work…
